Etching is a printmaking process in which lines are incised into a rigid plate to hold ink, which is then transferred onto paper using a printing press. In this workshop, students will create original drawings and etch them into a Plexiglas plate using sharp tools. They will then learn how to ink the plate and print multiple copies of their artwork on paper.
Students will learn:
Plate preparation
Drawing into the plate (etching)
Inking techniques
Press preparation and safe operation
Paper selection
Printing on the press
Producing and securing a finished edition
All supplies included. TMA members receive 10% off all registrations.
